Why would you order semi custom hand built furniture and want it rushed? Go directly to the Amish craftsman in and around Arcola and Arthur , design it yourself and enjoy the process of watching a piece of art come together.

I had a very specific piece made and it took over a year- view it as art and your perspective will change. Otherwise, I can direct you to Ashley home stores

Simply Amish Shaum Chair Scam Continuing

Wow ! Shaum's Chair just won't quit . A normal American retired steel worker has been fired now. He asked for a raise some months ago and was denied because he was" too old". Now he was fired with no severance just before Christmas "because he was not productive enough". The truth is this man is older but is stout and keeps up with the younger men easily.no one seems to want to take these people to court which is what needs to be done.Shaum's goal is almost complete. Now there are only about three [English] or normal Americans working there which means No accountability, compensation to pay, or chance of law suit from either the Mennonites or Amish.

Simply Amish -Shaums Chair Scam

The chair shop in reference is Shaums chair shop on state route 558 in Columbiana Ohio. It has been in business since about 1984 and started out with Amish workers but soon went to English and for about 15 or 16 years the chairs have been built primarily by English or ordinary people. The sub shops as they call them were primarily Mennonite which are not Amish.Simply Amish is aware of this because the owner Kevin Kauffman has visited Shaums during work hours and saw who was working there. So there is no doubt Simply Amish And Shaums have been pulling off this scam for many years.

Shaums Chair has been called out on this matter and chose to ignore it in the past but now they are in the process of finding excuses to relieve( English)craftsmen of their positions with Amish bodies So they can keep up their image. This does not change the fact that they both Simply Amish and Shaums Have Duped or Scammed the public for many years. If this one Chair shop then how many others?

Chair Shop Scam Simply Amish -Shaum Chair

Shuams Chair and Simply Amish have been asked about this dishonesty and chose to ignore it in the past but recently they,Shaums have been finding reasons to relieve English craftsmen of their positions and replacing them with Amish bodies who don't really know chair building. It all seems very illegal and at the least immoral since they have signs in their yards with Bible scripture on them.Wilmer Shaum is attempting to shift the blame for this on to others making decisions in the shop but he is there every day and is fully aware of it all since he lives in the house next door, actually the same driveway.people should be aware of this fraud and immoral activity.

Simply Amish not all Amish made

If you check Simply Amish frequently asked questions it says the furniture is made by the Amish. This is not entirely true ! At least one chair shop in Ohio has had English or ordinary people working there for many years. In fact for a long period of time only a handful of Amish worked there with the rest being either (English) or Mennonite. The main reason the Amish stayed away was wages were too low.A recent push to hire more Amish has been made to maintain the appearance of being Amish made.In fact this company has had over the years several sub shops which were Mennonite owned and operated,a couple of which hired an occasional Amish man to help.Signatures such as Haltimann, Fox, Van Pelt, Lake Country Chair Shop and other signatures signed in the main shop were and are not Amish. Some of the names are names found among the Amish but are actually Mennonite or other.

They suck. They are a shell company. Other shops build their furniture.

$7800 of product not received after 6 months.

We oordered CDN $7,800.00 worth of Simply Amish Furniture in Courtenay, BC, Canada, to include a large dresser, two side tables and a rocking chair. It was received after 13 weeks with terrible finish. The stain on the drawers didn't match the rest of the dresser. A front panel was warped. Areas of a dresser were not stained at all. The store agreed it looked poor and took it back. Two months later we are still waiting for our furniture without an expected delivery date. They will not provide a refund. Overall absolutely the worst service I have ever received anywhere.

All my customers are told about the wait time for furniture, 12 weeks from the time ordered until it usually arrives to my store. I haven't had one customer after putting down a sizeable down-payment not ask when there items will arrive to them.

However, sometimes delays happen, which is completely out of the my hands. If a delay does occur, I personally make calls and let my customers know. Most people except this and are patience.

Others...... (Well those in retail know the answer to that).

I had written the above post about Simply Amish and would like to add a comment because we did receive the furniture as ordered a couple of weeks later.

The furniture is beautiful and the quality of the finished products superb (dresser, side tables and rocker). Consumers just need to be aware of the length of time it takes to get custom items delivered to the island, especially if any problems exist with the initial delivery.

False Advertisement and Poor Quality of Furniture

I purchased a table and six chairs from simply amish in Indianapolis, In. I shopped around several different stores in indianapolis to find a solid wood, quality piece of furniture. I ultimately chose simply amish because of their lifetime warranty and imposed qualty. Their wood furniture was described as being finished/stained throughout, top and bottom, to a perfect finish. Emily, the store manager and our salesperson, showed and explained to us that each piece of wood has three layers of staind and sanded smooth in between each layer to give their furniture the best finish. I received my table and chairs nine weeks later, thru delivery to my home. I checked each piece and noticed flaws on each one. all the chairs had corners that were sanded thru and you could see raw wood(oak). the chairs were unacceptable. I chose a dark stain and where the flaws were, you could see a lighter, tan natural color of the wood. There were multiple spots, at least a dozen per, on each chair. The table was not finished to the advertised quality of simply amish. there was overspray on the botton of the table and it was lighter in color/stain. There was also a long scratch on one of the pieces of wood that make up the table.I would not make a big deal out of the bottom the table, but since the chairs are damaged, it has come to the point that I am not happy with the table. I happily paid the $4200 dollars for the table and 6 chairs that I thought I was going to receive. However, now that I see that the product does not come with the standards described or advertised, it is not worth the money. Also, when I called Emily to complain about the furniture, she was disrespectful and I felt that she did not care what I thought. I returned the 6 chairs, i thought i could live with the table. Emily gave me the run around for several days. she said they would blend the stain "in house". They never redelivered my chairs, so I went to get them before it was to late and I didn't have any chairs. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Do not purchase from that store.

I have had the same experience as Pat with our Simply Amish table being beautiful but scratching much too easily. I even bought their Protective Polish.

I went with them because I could get a custom size. But the table is unusable without a tablecloth. What a waste of time (I think it was 14 weeks) and money.

It is the worst piece of furniture I have ever had. I would never buy from them again.

The furniture is beautiful and well made. Much to my disappointment the finish scratches on a whim.

I️ bought a dining table and am very uncomfortable using it without a full tablecloth on it which of course covers the wood which I️ want exposed.

Directions say not to use anything on it other than to wipe it off with damp cloth. Would never purchase from them again.
